With over 70 years of experience in ship design and a long history in designing fuel efficient ships, we have a new mission: providing the shipping industry with practical green shipping solutions.
Our proven track record in the development of emission reduction measures for ships and the design of low emission to zero emission speaks for itself. Many of our innovative solutions and vessels are already navigating the seas and we look forward to many more great things to come!
There is no one size fits all solution for emission free shipping. There are however solutions for all sizes available. Pragmatic, innovative solutions to start decarbonizing our future. Want to know more about one of our green shipping solutions? Fill out this form and we will get back to you as soon as possible!
The transition to zero-emission starts with better utilization of the natural “fuel” wind.
Wind is the ideal resource as it is freely available and can contribute effectively to propulsion. With the Econowind-unit we developed an easy-to-mount unit to enable WASP for existing and new cargo ships. Making it a great addition to any vessel.
Reduce propulsion power, reduce emissions
A closed carbon loop can be realized with ”green” non-fossil fuels.
Methanol is an easy to use fuel and, even when injected in small percentages in combustion engines, gives a considerable reduction in emissions. Storage does not require pressure vessels or cooling, since it’s just a liquid.
Bio-methanol powered – reduce diesel, reduce emissions
Reduce emissions to less than 30% with LNG and Ship Based Carbon Capture (SBCC).
Currently, LNG is the best fuel alternative to diesel. It use reduces harmful emissions due to lower emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2) and nitrogen oxide (NOx) and particulare matter (PM). The solution is already proved on land, the next step is on water.
Reduce diesel, reduce emissions
The full transition to zero-emission at sea requires electric storage on board.
To enable electricity on board, we use a battery where energy is stored in liquid form: the Redox flow battery. It’s a safe and 100% emission-free technique which does not depriciate during its lifetime. All energy in the battery can be used for propulsion of the ship.
Replace diesel, eliminate emissions
Having a dual fuel engine gives flexibility in fuel use during the vessel’s lifetime.
It is possible to make the step from LNG-powered ships to hydrogen. Making a duel fuel engine an excellent replacement for the coming decades. In favorable conditions, a CO2 emission reduction of 75% is possible, with green produced H2 being emission-free.
Reduce diesel, reduce emissions
Design with easy conversion in mind and become future fuel ready today.
Fuel innovations will continue to follow one another in the coming years, even during the economic lifetime of a ship. Modular thinking, adaptive engine design and construction makes it possible for the vessel to remain viable during its life cycle.
Forward compatible, reduce emissions
We know the impact of the technical solutions and how to translate these into design and construction. We believe in a personal approach, resulting in highly customized designs to meet the specific needs of each individual client. continuous involvement in numerous sustainability projects enhances and speeds up the development of green shipping solutions.
Zero emission in 2050 is the dot on the horizon in every aspect. However, we think that it can be done even faster: for every range and every type of ship, emission reduction is possible now!
In our ”5 ways to zero” whitepaper we discuss practical solutions and applications
The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015, provides a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future. At its heart are the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which we fully support and view as a guideline for our everyday business in the maritime industry. Together with our partners of the Green Maritime Coalition we build on the future of green shipping.
